5 Reasons to Quit Stressing Much

Stres, in certain situations, is good for the body. For example, a brief bout of stress can give the immune system a beneficial boost in mobilizing all major types of immune cells, or leukocytes, to potential infection sites around the body. Some people also claim to work better and more efficiently under stress. Stress can also make you more alert as it causes adrenaline to pump into your bloodstream. Indeed, under certain conditions, stress can save your life - and job.

However, the risks and dangers of stress to your body far outweigh any perceived benefit. Stress has long been considered as one of the primary causes of depression, anxiety, mood disorders, and other mental and psychological problems. Stress is also a factor in a number of physiological problems such as headaches and migraines. Here are other reasons to quit stressing too much:

1. Stress can make you look old.
Have you ever noticed how someone seems to age right before your eyes due to too much work or emotional baggage? Stress caused by these factors is one of the primary factors that can speed up the aging process. Chronic stress — the type that drags on, rather than being just a momentary crisis — can affect hormone levels and shift the body’s delicate hormone balance and affect DNA. Stress damage to DNA is the culprit behind wrinkles, gray hair, and diseases that can shorten your lifespan by speeding up the rate by which you age.

2. Stress can be counterproductive in excess.
Stress may make you rush and do something that would normally take you days to finish in a matter of hours like a report or presentation. While it may seem beneficial, doing important things that require careful thinking, planning, and analysis in a short time can make your work shoddy. In addition, you may miss important details and botch up what should have been a good job. This also applies to rushing home projects, applications letters, and cooking dinner, among others.

3. Stress can cause muscle pain.
You might think that it is the other way around but stress really do cause muscle pain. Stress - due to the presence of adrenaline - can make your muscle taut, rigid, and tense. This tension in your muscles can result to cramping and muscle pain that only a good massage and a muscle relaxant prescription like Soma can alleviate.

4. Stress can slow down your body's natural healing.
Excess amounts of stress causes your body to become flooded with adrenaline - the hormone that keeps you alert and active. Similar to a sugar rush, it is difficult for your body to relax under the influence of adrenaline. So even if you are bone-tired, stress can get in the way of sound sleep. You might be able to sleep fast after coming down from the adrenaline rush but it will not be a relaxing and healing sleep. It is also very likely that you won't be able to stay asleep long enough to be fully rested. Deprived of proper relaxation and rest, your body will not have the opportunity to repair damaged cells.

5. Stress can make you spend more.
Chronic stress can lead you in the wrong direction in pursuit of relaxation or medication. Stress can make you eat more which translates into increased restaurant expenses or shop more which results to more credit card bills. Stress can also make you sick which means costly doctor visits and prescriptions.
